SMART

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Related

What is the difference between goals, strategies, and tactics?

Goals are a person’s or organizations desired result they aim to achieve. Strategy, is an intended vision to fulfill your predetermined goals and objectives from day-to-day activities that may contribute to a monthly, quarterly, and/or annual goal. Tactics, are highly practiced things you will do every day to support your strategy.

Setting SMART goals for your marketing campaign

Clear, concise goals are essential to setting a solid foundation for a marketing campaign. However, most companies are still grasping the idea that strategy and tactics go hand-in-hand when creating a campaign. All brainstorming discussions should include an outline that reflects the goal, objectives, strategy and tactics of the marketing campaign. Campaigns are more than buzz words or an idea in someone’s head that is never verbalized, they are thought-through and organized plans. Marketers and companies alike understand each marketing campaign that has questions that should be considered. Who will be the targeted audience? What platform will be used to get the message out? What metrics will be used to track the success of the campaign? What will be the key performance indicators (KPIs)? What integrated marketing channels will be used to share the message? These are just a few questions that must be addressed to ensure the overall success of a marketing campaign.

Aligning your marketing tactics to your marketing strategies to support your marketing campaign goals will place you ahead of some of your competitors. In order to align tactics to strategies.
